Even though having too much pride is the punchline to one of dad’s favorite jokes, after learning about the ill effects of Pride, as a Sin, has created such a stir within me that I have to explore this as a theme!
I’m seeing how being Prideful can effect a person’s ability to function authentically. Before I continue, let me define what Pride, the toxic definition, means to me: something that causes one to ONLY think of themselves given a particular situation. The opposite being humble.
What I’m seeing is that Pride can lead to someone quitting a good job because they were disrespected for their work, seeing organizations collapse, and seeing friendships end. It’s like people want to hold onto this longer and stronger negative emotion than fighting, or a better term, letting go of something, in order to have PEACE in their lives. That’s how I want each life to be and I KNOW that’s what God’s Will is to be. Peace be with you. But it’s sad when they can’t have that when they carry that grudge.
Maybe, I’m the one who doesn’t get it it. If a person doesn’t fight for what’s right for themselves, then that person will die by themselves.
That’s horse dung! I’m strengthened by faith and God’s way to know, that when we serve ourselves, then we are serving the Devil. That’s what that bad guy wants. He yearns for people to be torn apart. He wants conflict. He’s the guy in spandex red that sits on the humans shoulder and tells them what they deserve and that if anyone denies them that, or if anyone’s helping the enemy, then that’s what they are – the enemy. They’re only our friend as long as they serve you.
Either I’ve been brain washed by a religious order called The Catholic Church, or the Holy Spirit is working His mysterious yet humbling wonders in me. For what it’s worth, I choose and say YES to God!
Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ! Alleluia! Alleluia!
